There are some good treatments for skin cancer available for patients having nonmelanoma skin cancer and actinic keratosis. However, generally the treatments are of four types and are also known as standard treatments. They include surgery and its types, Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy and Photodynamic therapy.

    Surgery

The surgeries are of 6 different types namely Mohs micrographic surgery, Simple excision, Shave excision, Electrodesiccation & curettage, Cryosurgery, Laser surgery and Dermabrasion.

    Radiation therapy

This involves using high-energy x-rays or other types of radiation to kill cancer cells or keep them from growing.

    Chemotherapy

This involves usage of certain drugs to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from further growth.

    Photodynamic therapy

This therapy involves a combination of drug and a certain type of laser light to kill cancer cells.
