Sometimes, your computer your laptop will just shut itself down and get a black screen unexpectedly, which is due to: power overload in the AC adapter, overheated processor / clogged fan, overheated battery, pushing the power button, Windows telling it to, the BIOS telling it to, loose wires (especially the power cord), or intermittent short circuits. The most common problem is cooling. the battery should be removed from the laptop and allowed to cool to room temperature before attempting to use again. Notice if the fan is broken or clogged with dust (common older HP problem).Reference: http://www.papatek.com/Knowledge/Battery-knowledge/Knowledge_194.html
