Being passive means very weakly communicating my feelings, my opinions and my beliefs. The person who is passive expects others to guess what you need and fear of conflict remains silent even when you disagree with what is happening. What is assertiveness?

Being assertive means expressing my desires, opinions, beliefs and feelings in a respectful way. No esganarle to another, is to succeed in mutual respect. Being assertive is to have the ability to transmit and receive messages of honest, timely and respectful manner.

The assertive message must start with an " I 'm sorry" and continue with an objective description of the behavior of the other that we do not like. For example: " I feel neglected when you answer your cell phone in the middle of my conversation," or " I feel anxious when you do not tell me what time you are arriving."

The key is to not qualify the person, take responsibility for how I feel and be clear and direct in my communication.

Do not forget that a relationship is a conversation. Being passive and being aggressive is equal to build a wall between you and me. Being assertive is to open the possibility of communicating.
