How to extend New Zealand skilled visa date?

I am Japanese but now living in New Zealand under the highly skilled worker category, my New Zealand visa is just about to expire, I want to know how to extend my visa date?

    If you are a highly skilled worker and have that occupation that earns over $55,000, you can get a five year work permit, rather than having to apply for a Residence Visa.  You can also apply for three-year extensions to your permit, provided the need for your skill still exists at the time of application.
