When I switch on the Dehumidifier Compressor, it works for some seconds then it automatically went off! I am wondering that there might be wrong.

Troubleshooting a dehumidifier is relatively a very easy task because there are not so many reasons for the unit not to work. There are only some working parts and the compressor does not malfunction but rather a fan blade structure or something simple like the float switch gets stuck. If the unit is having a problem functioning, follow these troubleshooting steps. Each one only takes a few minutes and no tools are required.

Turn on dehumidifier, if it fails to start, check the plug to make sure that it is plugged into a three-prong outlet. Take drain bucket out and make sure that the float is in the correct position and then replace the bucket. If the bucket is full but empty it before putting it back.

Identify why the dehumidifier still running but not taking humidity out of the room, check unit for the ice. Some units have an automatic shut off control system if the unit ices up. Check the filter in order to make sure it is clean and it is not obstructed by dirt. Clean and replace if required.

Inspect the unit while running, if it is not taking the humidity out, it may be due to the unit iced up. Turn off the unit and then allow thawing. Check out the room to see if there is more humidity getting into the room from the area that is unsealed. This can result in the unit to ice up. Also check the room temperature, if it is colder, it can result in the coils to ice up.
