How to fix a registry error ?

I am currently using Windows XP. It has so many issues like I got lot of registry errors and most of files got corrupt due to these errors which are really frustrating for me. It also makes my computer very slow to operate. Recommend me any method by which I can clean windows XP registry.

     The Windows Registry is the database that contains information regarding  stores settings and options on the Microsoft Windows operating system. When the registry of your operating system has error, it creates lot of frustrating issues like your computer boot up so slowly , switching between programs take lot of time and  it show same response when you are shutting your system and you also receive error messages which might cause computer crashes.
