Studying this science can be the making of a great dissertation. However the subject “motivation” is so vast that covering it in one dissertation will take you a life time. But how do you write a motivation dissertation that is going to captivate your readers? Where to start? What to write?
Following are some tips and guides as to what topics to address when writing a motivation dissertation.
Start off by comparing the concepts of motivation. What is incentive theory of motivation? How a reward that is tangible or intangible motivates a person. Compare it with the Intrinsic and extrinsic theories of motivation. How in intrinsic theory of motivation do people believe that internal factors play a major role in the outcome and how in extrinsic theory external factors play a major role in the outcome of a result? If you successfully explain the concepts you will have laid a great foundation for your motivation dissertation. Now shift your focus on other different theories of dissertation like Drive theory, cognitive dissonance theory and the famous Maslow’s hierarchy of human needs theory along with many other theories such as Herzberg two factor theory, Goal setting theory etc that you can come up with. Analyze each theory. What is different? What does each theory tell you that other doesn’t?  Here you will have enough research material that would cover your introduction and literature review. You will gain enough knowledge about all the concepts and theories that you will be able to decide how to construct your proposal and what you would try to achieve in you motivation dissertation.
A dissertation on motivation is mostly about how a work environment can stay motivated. Now that you have done your entire home work and laid the foundation it’s time to set your proposal in motion.
You can apply your research work on:
        Schools
        Hospitals
        Government agencies
        Private firms
        Small medium enterprises
        Large multinational corporations
This would give you sound ideas for your dissertation proposal. You can study the motivational factors behind students and teachers in schools, doctors and nurses in hospitals, government employees and so on. This will give you an insight as to what makes people in different industries click. All this can be done by simply filling out questionnaires.  Hence you will have a great foundation for your introduction and literature review and have a great idea for your proposal. A sure shot success for your motivation dissertation.
An example of how you can structure your motivation dissertation
Introduction: in which you write about the motivation as a whole
Objective of study: Where you state why you are conducting motivational tests of different employees of different organization.
Literature review: Where all your research on concepts and theories come to play.
Methodology: Where your population sample size and data is analyzed.
Hypothesis: Where you propose what theory is the best used for motivating employees.
Survey results and conclusion: Where you round up all your findings and present your solution.
