I leave home around 9 am in the morning and come back around 11 pm. After working whole day round I get so much tired that I feel so much under stress. I have been advised for getting massage so would like to know about the different types of massage.

    There are about 10 types of massage techniques. Their names and brief description is provided below.


    Swedish Massage Therapy


    This is a gentle and relaxing massage technique that involves long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotion or oil.


    Aromatherapy Massage


    This type of massage is for people under stress and uses some oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress-reducing and balancing like lavender.


    Hot Stone Massage


    This involves placing heated, smooth stones on certain points on the body thus warming and loosening tight muscles and balance energy centers in the body.


    Deep Tissue Massage


    This includes slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle, targeting the deeper layers and connective tissues for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury.


    Shiatsu


    It is a Japanese bodywork that utilizes localized finger pressure in a rhythmic order on acupuncture meridians improving the flow of energy thus helping body to regain balance.


    Thai Massage


    It aligns the energies of the body applying gentle pressure on specific points like compressions and stretches.


    Pregnancy Massage


    It is also known as prenatal massage used for positioning and supporting the woman's body reducing stress, swelling, aches and pains, anxiety and depression during pregnancy.


    Reflexology


    Commonly known as foot massage and involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that corresponds to organs and systems in the body thus relaxing people standing on their feet whole day or with tired and achy feet.


    Sports Massage


    It is for people involved in some physical activity and not necessarily professional athlete. It provides relaxation and flexibility in the muscles.


    Back Massage


    It is a simple massage that focuses on providing relief and stress in the back.
