There are about 10 massage techniques that are being rated as top. Their names and brief descriptions are provided below.
SWEDISH MASSAGE. It relieves muscle tension and loosening sore joints by applying soothing, tapping and kneading strokes to work the entire body.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE. This technique involves slow strokes, direct pressure or friction movements that go across the grain of the muscles targeting chronic muscular tension that lies far below body surface.
SPORTS MASSAGE. This technique is designed for better training and warming up muscles to improve circulation before competition, so as to energize or relax an athlete and help him focus better.
NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE. This is applied individually to muscles to increase blood flow, reduce pain and release pressure on nerves resulted from injuries to muscles and other soft tissue.
ROLFING. This is used to improve body posture that is resulted from health problems like backaches, headaches and joint pain. It realigns and straightens the body by working the connective tissue surrounding muscles thus helping the body hold together in 10 sessions.
HELLERWORK. This is based on 11 sessions that helps you focus on returning your muscles and other tissues to their proper positions by educating you both mentally and physically.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY. It focuses on the skull and spinal column reducing tension and counteracting any physical trauma to your head that you might have had in the past.
ASTON-PATTERNING. An offshoot of Rolfing educating people to maintain the improved alignment achieved through Rolfing.
FELDENKRAIS. It includes a gentle massage treating every part of the body as an individual work of art, with different postures and different movement patterns.
TRAGER. This involves very light, gentle shaking techniques making people more aware of their bodies, particularly the way they move and hold themselves.
