Although both are required in tandem to achieve the type of fitness results most want, in the end it comes down to the food that you are putting in your body. The reason for this is that you can work out - resistance training and cardio for hours a day and still not realize the results you desire due to foods high in bad fats, carbohydrates and refined sugar.
On the other hand, very clean and healthful eating can exacerbate the effects of even a simple and light fitness routine. The general rule of thumb is that fitness goals are achieved 80% by way of good diet and 20% by way of training.
