In what way is Pygmalion a play of ideas
Tags: ideas, Play, Pygmalion
Pygmalion, George Bernard Shaw's timeless classic is definitely a play and story of ideas. Major issues such as socio-economic class structure and manners are deeply explored. The book also does a great job of turning these ideas on their head when Liza is transformed from modest flower seller to elegant lady. That social climb is one that is against the odds for various reasons explained within the book and its time.
The work also touches on creation and language and its deep rooted impact as a guage for social stature in the England of Shaw's time.
