The London Underground commonly known as the Tube is the oldest underground railway notwork in the world. Its first section opened in 1863 is now the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan linesa rapid transit system serving a large part of Greater London and some parts of Buckinghamshire, Essex and Hertfordshire in England. The London Underground started its electric train in 1890 and the Uk became the first operater of electric trains. Many private companies participated in the construction of the earlier railway lines of the present London Underground network and became an important part of an integrated transport system. For the convenience of commuters and for smooth railway functions, the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) or London Transport was created in 1933. The underground network became a single corporation in 1985, when the UK Government established London Underground Limited (LUL). Now London Underground Limited ( LUL) has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL), responsible for most aspects of the transport system in Greater London, which is run by London Mayer appointed board and a commissioner. The construction of railway lines in the United Kingdom Started in the early 19th century, and six railway terminals had been built outside the centre of London till 1854. These were London Bridge, Euston, Paddington, London King's Cross, Bishopsgate and Waterloo. At this point, City of London had only Fenchurch Street station. The plane to build an underground railway for linking the City of London with the mainline terminals had first been planneded in the 1830s, but did not get proper shape until the 1850s because of traffic congestion.
