    BMW i is a sub brand of BMW which has been created to commercialize low emission vehicles. BMW announced in february 2011 that the new brand for commercialization of vehicles will be badged as i under the project i. i3 and i8 will be the two production models which are to be due in the year 2013, i3 will totally be battery electric known to be as the "Mega ity Vehicle" with a range of 150 miles on a single charge, i8 will be a hybrid based on the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and has an all-electric range of 35 kilometres.
   
   Production of bothelectric cars to be started in Leipzig in 2013,in August 2011 BMW announced the BMW i5, a new midrange model for its new electric car line. The i5 will use the same drivetrain as the i8 and is schedule for 2016.
