    Messi is quite possibly the most individually talented player I have ever seen and may go down as the most talented player to ever play the game. The issue is the majority of his success has come at the club level where he plays on Barcelona. He has played in front of one of the greatest midfielding units ever made, has an elite defensive line and goalie, and has played with world class forwards. Yes he has been the star on this stacked team but without him they are still one of the elite teams in the world. You can say the same thing if you take Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Buesquest, Pedro, Pique, Valdes, Alba, or any of the other world class players. On the international level he had a lot of success at the junior level but has only lead the senior national team past the quarterfinals once, which was the 2007 Copa America in which they lost 3-0 to Brazil in the finals. Since then Argentina has had little success on the international level. I think he needs to have more success on the international level to solidify his status amongst the greats such as Pele, Maradona, and Zidane
