The London Underground started its electric train in 1890 and the UK became the first operator of electric trains. Many private companies participated in the construction of the earlier railway lines of the present London Underground network and became an important part of an integrated transport system. For the convenience of commuters and for smooth railway functions, the London Passenger Transport Board (LPTB) or London Transport was created in 1933. The underground network became a single corporation in 1985, when the UK Government established London Underground Limited (LUL). Now London Underground Limited ( LUL) has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London (TfL), responsible for most aspects of the transport system in Greater London, which is run by London Mayer appointed board and a commissioner.
