   Well, claims are well suited when they are supported with facts and figures. India is the second largest state in terms of population in the world with an estimated population of 1.2 billion. If you are a person who likes percentages more than numbers then let me translate what I have stated before into percentage, 1.2 billion means that 17.5% of the world population lives in India. So which ever religion is in majority will have a strong presence in the world making it one of the top religions in the world like Hinduism.
   
   The major religions of India are Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism. 90% of the Hindus of the world live in India which is the majority religion of India. In other words, 900 million Hindus live in India making 80.5% of its total population rest of which is divided among other religions, Islam 13.4%, Christianity 2.3%, Sikhism 1.9%, Buddhism 0.8% and Jainism 0.4%. Growth rate of religions in India Hinduism 20.3%, Islam 29.5%, Christianity 22.6%, Sikhism 18.2%, Buddhism 24.5% and Jainism 26%. Islam is the second largest religion of the country with the fastest growth rate recorded in the last 10 years. According to a 2006 committee appointed by the Indian Prime Minister, by the end of the 21st century India's Muslim population will reach 320 to 340 million people (or 18% of India's total projected population).
   
   Some say more Muslims live in India than in Pakistan. This claim is found to be false, India is the largest Muslim-minority population country in the world but it has the third largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia and Pakistan. Pakistan has an estimated population of 180 million out of which 96.3% of its population being Muslims which makes it around 173 million Muslims, whereas around 160 million Muslims live in India.
