    Lawrie McMenemy received his MBE for his tremendous services to charity.  He is a Patron of the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, CHairman of Special Olympics Great Britain and works with Scope, St Dismus Society, N.S.P.C.C, Autistic's Society as well as the Romsey Hospital Appeal and Rose Road Children’s Appeal. He is also on the committee of Outward Bound.
    This is over above his achievements in sport - The Guinness Book of Soccer facts ranks Lawrie among the twenty most successful managers in post war English football. Mark Wright, Matthew Le Tissier and Alan Shearer emerged from his youth policy at Southampton.
