   The location of Pura Penataran Sasih in Bali is easily accessible as the temple is about 6 km away from Gianyar town, on the main road towards north. The temple derived its name from an ancient bronze kettledrum which is now kept in the inner chamber. The kettledrum is about 2 meters in length; and it is locally known as the Moon of Pejeng, as one of the few relics of the Balinese Bronze Age, it is a great archeological find. Pura Penataran Sasih in Bali served the purpose of one the most important places of worship during the time of the great Balinese kingdoms. Various temple festivals are held in the 9th Balinese month at the Pura Penataran Sasih in Bali.
