I have a Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave M# R-1871.  The microwave works; however, it will only count down on cooking 59 seconds at a time and stop.  I have to push the start button to get it to continue.  Example:  If I set cook time to 3 minutes, it will count down to 1 second and stop.  I'll start it, and it will count down an additional 59 seconds and will show 2 seconds on the timer.  I'll push start again, and it will count down another 59 seconds and will show 3 seconds remaining.  Is this due to a problem with the circuit board #DPWBFB061MRU0?  Note:  The kitchen count down timer works correctly.

This is not a problem with the circuit board.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

We have the applicable service manuals for these models and have uploaded them to our site help you:
