I have started working out and don't like protein shakes. Can milk make me bigger if I drink it after working out?

Milk is actually one of the best things that you can drink following a workout, particularly a strength training routine. The goal of working out is to break muscle down in order to make it stronger and as a result bigger. The primary factor in rebuilding the muscle fibres is protein.
Milk is rich in both whey and casein protein. Whey digests quickly, something that is very important in a post workout drink or meal. Casein digests slowly, which allows your muscles to be fuelled over time. On top of that, milk is also rich in branch chain amino acids, making it a well spring of beneficial nutrients. Milk is also high in water content and serves to replenish the body better than water can.
Finally, milk offers a cheap and readily available alternative to other expensive workout drinks, like the ones you don't like. If that wasn't enough, milk has carbohydrates, a must for a post-workout as it replenishes glycogen stores in your body, ensuring that muscles do not break down to restore said stores. Chocolate milk is also an excellent option, so long as it is kept to a maximum of 500 mL.
