I had the old model of Toyota Yaris some years back, now I think there is a new model of Yaris which will be launched in the year 2012, what will be its specifications, is it built in American or is it a Japanese version?

We recently got chance to check out the Japanese-spec version of the new car. Toyota is hoping the new Yaris’s more aggressive edges will appeal to a larger audience. The car feels bigger, but the company’s efforts to minimize costs while improving packaging are met with different results.

The engine has two new versions of the 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter gas variants as well as the revised 1.4-liter diesel for Europe. The highlight of the lineup the 1.3-liter Smart-Stop Package . As it takes just 0.35 seconds to restart after seamlessly cutting the engine at idle, the smart-stop works well to improve fuel economy by some 2 mpg, thus it also helps in achieving 61.5 mpg in the Japanese mpg cycle. But the start-stop is only offered on the 1.3-liter due to its $700 price tag.

It is tuned for optimum fuel economy and CO2 emissions; the 1.3-liter was enough. It is Mated to a revised CVT, as it pulled sufficiently around 2000 rpm and stayed strong through the mid-ranges .if the CVT will come stateside, we would not be able to bet against it, To keep along with its rivals, the Yaris has stiffened body rigidity, a more compliant ride, and a better weighted, much more responsive steering feel. The new Yaris is more spacious, and also provides with smooth and best handling than its previous models.

At the starting price of about $13,000 it is a pretty good bargain.
