   PROSPECTUS
   
   1.    Government of Tamil Nadu proposes to recruit Junior Postgraduate Assistants / Junior Physical Education Directors, Gr.I for appointment in Government Higher Secondary Schools in School Education Department and other Government Departments / Local bodies.
   
   2.    The posts will be filled up on the basis of marks secured in the written competitive examination to be conducted by the Teachers' Recruitment Board, and following communal reservation of 30% for Backward Class, 20% for Most Backward Class 18% for Scheduled Caste and 1% for Scheduled Tribe candidates. (Total reservation 69%).  Open competition posts will be 31%.  The reservation of vacancies for Women Physically handicapped and Blind will also be followed as per Government orders in force.

   4.    Pay: Consolidated pay of Rs.4500/- per mensem.  Selected candidates may be absorbed in regular pay scales after 5 years of satisfactory service based on eligibility, teaching ability and seniority.
   
   5.    Qualifications: Candidates should possess M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. in the relevant subject with B.Ed. Candidates must have studied the same subject in Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree both for academic subjects and languages.  Candidates with different major in Bachelor’s and Master’s level will not be eligible to write the examination.  For the post of Junior Physical Director Grade-I, any Bachelor's Degree with M.P.Ed. Degree is the qualification prescribed.  Both Postgraduate and Bachelor's Degree should be from recognised Universities only.  The candidate should possess knowledge of Tamil of 10th Standard level.
   
   Note:   Postgraduate Degree holders in any special branch of a subject shall be eligible to be appointed in the Higher Secondary Schools to teach the relevant subject in the general branch.  (G.O.Ms.No.1622, Education (HS2) Department, dated 21-10-1988.)
   
   6.    Registration: Only those candidates who have registered in Professional and Executive Employment Office, Chennai for Postgraduate Assistants or Physical Director Gr.I on or before 31-8-2004 are eligible to apply for the posts.
   
   7.    Age: Candidates should not be over 57 years as on 1-7-2004 as the age of superannuation is 58 years.
   
   8.    a) Blind candidates: will be allowed assistance of Scribes, who are not Graduate / Postgraduate in the respective subjects in which the blind candidate is applying.
   
   b) Physically handicapped candidates should possess certificate in prescribed format from Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Surgeon for at least 40% disability.
   
   Note: One-eyed blind cannot claim reservation against the above categories.
   
   9.    Community Certificate: Permanent Community Card Certificate obtained from the under-mentioned authorities on or before 31-8-2004 is necessary for candidates claiming reservation category.
   
   a)      ST - Revenue Divisional Officer dated after 11-11-1989
   
   b)      SC - Tahsildar of native taluk of the candidate
   
   c)      BC / MBC / DNC - Headquarters Deputy Tahsildar or Special Deputy Tahsildar
   
   Note: Married women should possess Community Certificate issued in father’s name only.
   
   10.    Application form: The Application forms along with Prospectus and Syllabus for the written competitive examination can be obtained in person from the Offices of Chief Educational Officers of all 30 Districts in Tamil Nadu, from 16-8-2004 to 31-8-2004, on payment of Rs.100/- by cash.  .
   
   11.    Submission of Application Form: Candidates are advised to submit the filled-in forms in person at the Office of the Chief Educational Officer concerned, and obtain acknowledgement for the same. Candidates wishing to send the filled in Application by post may send them directly to the Teachers Recruitment Board, Chennai-6, well in time. The last date for the submission of filled in Applications in the office of Chief Educational Officers or Teachers' Recruitment Board is 31.8.2004.  Teachers' Recruitment Board will not be liable for any delay or loss of Application forms sent by post. Application received in any form other than the one issued by Teachers' Recruitment Board or Chief Educational Officers shall be rejected.
   
   Note: Candidates can submit the Application form at any CEO’s office.
   
   12.    Examination Fee: The Examination fee is Rs.400/- (Rs.200/- for SC, ST and Blind candidates of all communities).  The fee is payable by a crossed Demand Draft in favour of "Teachers' Recruitment Board, Chennai" payable at Chennai.  The Demand Draft should be enclosed with filled-in Application.  Demand draft should be from any one of the following Banks.
   
   1)      State Bank of India, 2) Indian Overseas Bank, 3) Indian Bank, 4) Canara Bank, 5) Union Bank of India
   
   The candidate should write his /her name, Application number, Subject for which applied in English on the reverse of the Demand Draft.
   
   13.    Scheme of Examination: The written examination will consist of a single paper of 3 hours duration with 150 marks.  The question paper will be of objective type with multiple choice questions.  The marks allotted to the Main Subject, Educational Methodology and General Knowledge are as follows:

   The question papers for all subjects excepting the languages Tamil / Telugu / Kannada will be in English.  The candidates are required to answer the questions in the special OMR answer sheet provided, by shading a single answer for each question in blue or black ball-point pen only.  The Syllabus for the examination as published in Gazette No.611, dated 10-09-2001 and Gazette No. 356, dated 30-05-2002 will be covered in the objective type of examination.  The candidates will be provided with the yellow copy of the answer sheet for their reference.
   
   14.    The date and venue of Examination: The Examination will be held on Sunday 17-10-2004 from 10-00 AM to 1-00 PM.  The Examination will be held in all 30 Districts Headquarters.  The venue for the Examination will be intimated in the Hall Tickets.  The Hall Tickets will be sent by Teachers' Recruitment Board directly to the eligible candidates.  Decision of Chairman, Teachers' Recruitment Board on eligibility of the candidate to sit for the Examination will be final.
   
   15.    Selection:  Provisional Selection will be done on the basis of the marks scored in the written competitive examination, and following communal rotation. The Roll number-wise Mark List of all candidates, and Roll numbers of candidates short-listed for Certificate Verification in the ratio of 1:1, based on written examination marks, will be published in the website of TRB viz. http://trb.tn.nic.in and TRB Notice Board.  The publication of results will be announced through Press / media.
   
   16.    Certificate Verification: Candidates short-listed as above shall bring the original and attested copies of all Certificates as stated in the call letters for Certificate Verification.  All Certificates (except Teaching Experience) should have been issued prior to the last date for the receipt of filled-in Applications by Teachers' Recruitment Board, i.e. 31-8-2004.  Certificates issued after the cut-off date will not be considered. Teaching experience certificate issued by Headmaster / Principal of the School should be countersigned by the inspecting officer concerned.
   
   17.    Weightage marks:  Weightage marks as detailed below will be given after Certification Verification.  These marks will be added to Written Examination marks for preparing the final merit-c*m-communal selection roster.

   18.    No T.A./D.A. will be paid, Candidates will have to bear their own expenses to attend the Written Examination and for Certificate Verification at Teachers Recruitment Board Chennai, if called.
   
   19.    The final eligibility of the candidates will be subject to the decision of Teachers Recruitment Board.  Decision of Chairman, Teachers' Recruitment Board on all matters concerned with the examination will be final and binding.
   
   20.    Special Instructions:
   
   a)      The Application Forms should be carefully filled up.  The passport size photograph should be pasted in the space provided and should not be stapled.  The photograph should not be attested and it should be free from any mark, as the same has to be used for printing the hall tickets.
   
   b)      The candidate should write his/her name subject, Application Form No. and the post applied for, in English on reverse of the Demand Draft .  Examination fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances
   
   c)      The Application form should not be folded.  The Application form and the Demand Draft should be submitted in the envelope issued along with the form.
   
   d)      The candidates are requested to draw a Demand Draft for Rs.400/- / Rs.200/- (Examination Fees) in favour of Chairman, Teachers' Recruitment Board from any one of the Banks mentioned in the Application form.  The Names of the Bank and Bank codes are to be entered in the Application form as per the codes given in the form.
   
   e)      The codes of the Examination District are given in the Annexure.  The candidates are requested to mention the code of the District in which they would like to write the examination in the Application form in the space provided under " Examination City", and alsos the name of the city/town in the space provided.
   
   f)        The subject code should be clearly filled up in the space allotted in the Application form.
