Australia is a very flat continent where the average elevation is just 330 meters, the lowest in the world but the country have some of the oldest and most interesting exposed rocks in the world. Below are the two mountain ranges that are located in the country.
The Great Dividing Range, which is one of Australia's most important geographical features. The highest point in Australia is Mount Kosciuszko, which is a part of the Great Dividing Range, in New South Wales at 2,228 meters above sea level. As the ranges eroded over millions of years, the high mountain tops became islands. The range runs parallel to the east coast of Australia, from Cape York in the North to Western Victoria in the south.
