   Prior to the New Deal, people solved their problems at a local and state level, where the individual problems arose. The New Deal was Keynsian economics at its worst, saying that spending more by the federal government would help the whole economy improve. In actuality, and as many people knew, government spending does not really save the economy. Anyway, another reason was that parts of the New Deal gave more power to the president than was constitutional. Some of them slid through, yet several were overturned by the Supreme Court.
