     The most exhaustive and reputed study of dog trainability and overall intelligence ever done is known as The Intelligence of Dogs, a book by Stanley Coren. It took into account intelligence in terms of a dog's ability to do what it was bred to do, intelligence in terms of solving problems themselves and intelligence in terms of trainability. From this study, the following is the list of the 5 smartest dog breeds:


    Border Collie

    Poodle

    German Shepherd

    Golden Retriever

    Doberman Pinscher
