"The following factors may increase the risk of developing bowel cancer:

    Lifestyle factors

    • A diet high in fat and protein and low in fruit and vegetables

    • Alcohol consumption

    • Weight gain, particularly around the waist

    • Low rates of physical activity.

    Family history of bowel cancer

Having bowel cancer to parent, male sibling, sister or kid, almost 90% of the bowel cancer is not inherited.

    Rare genetic conditions

Hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancerous infection (HNPCC) is a symptom in some families where the inclination to have cancer is inherited. Up to 5% of all bowels cancer is due to HNPCC. About 80% of persons who have a gene for HNPCC will evolve a bowel cancerous infection at some time in their life.

Genetic adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a situation that determinants hundreds of small growths known as polyps in the bowel of the individual affected. If left untreated, FAP always turns into bowel cancer. Only 1% of all bowel cancerous infection is due to FAP.

Other conditions that may increase risk

Having symptoms of Crohn’s infection or ulcerative colitis for more than 10 years."
