There are many differences between African and Asian elephants. The African elephant is larger as they are between 8.2 to 13 feet and 5,000 to 14,000 pounds where are the Asian elephant is 6.6 to 9.8 feet tall and 2,041 to 4,990 pounds. The African elephant’s ears are bigger and can reach up and over their necks and have a rounded head with a single dome whereas the Asian elephant as twin domes with an indent in the middle. The African elephants all have large tusks whereas only the male Asian elephants have large tusks, the females have small tusks or none at all. Also the Asian elephant’s skin is smoother and covered in more hair.
