Major causes and types of memory loss.

I have noticed that most people when come of age have severe problems with their memory. At the same time I have seen some very aged people having memory as sharp as an elephant. For this reason, I would like to know if there are any causes of memory loss as well as the types.

    There are some very prominent causes of memory loss. Some of them are listed below:



          
    • Aging

    • Head Trauma

    •     
    • Alzheimer's disease

    •     
    • Parkinson's disease

    •     
    • Huntington's disease

    •     
    • Persistent depression and anxiety

    •     
    • Use of certain medications for treatment of allergies

    •     
    • Serious psychiatric disorders

    •     
    • Extended alcohol and illicit drug abuse

    •     
    • Infections caused by some other medical diseases

    • sleeplessness or sleep apnea
