Bipolar disorder has multiples reasons; usually it appears in many people genetically. Although not everyone with an inherited vulnerability develops the illness, showing that genes are not the only cause. Some brain imaging analysis’s show physical modification in the brains of people with bipolar disorder. Other examinations points to neurotransmitter imbalances, abnormal thyroid function, circadian rhythm disturbances, and high levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The external environmental and psychological elements are also thought to be involved in the development of bipolar disorder. These external elements are called triggers. Triggers can set off new episodes of mania or depression or make existing sign worse. Although, several bipolar disorder episodes happens without an obvious trigger. 1. Stress: Stressful life’s circumstances can trigger bipolar disorder in someone with a genetic vulnerability. These factors tend to involve drastic or immediate changes, either good or bad such as getting married, going away from college, losing a loved one, getting fired, or migration. 2. Substance Abuse: Although substance abuse will not cause bipolar disorder, but it can contribute on an episode and worsen the course of the disease. Drugs, for instance cocaine, ecstasy, and amphetamines can trigger mania and alcohol and tranquilizers can activate depression. 3. Medication: some medications, usually notably antidepressant drugs, can cause mania. 4. Seasonal Changes: the suffering of mania and depression often trace a seasonal pattern. Manic episodes are usually common during the summer season, while on the same time depressive episodes usually occur during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. 5. Sleep Deprivation: Loss of sleep or even as little as skipping a few hours of rest also can cause an episode of mania.
