There are some tests which are conducted to check the level of glucose in the body and by measuring those parameters we can check it on the scale of normal limit of glucose. There are some following tests that are used to diagnose diabetes:

Fasting blood glucose level- For the blood test diabetes is diagnosed if it the level of glucose is higher than 126 mg/dL on the two occasions. The level between 100 and 126 mg/dL is referred to the impairment of fasting glucose or a prediabetes. These levels are a future risk factor for the type 2 diabetes and its complications.

Oral glucose tolerance test- Diabetes is diagnosed if the level of glucose is higher than 200 mg/dL after the time span of two hours. This test is used for type 2 diabetes.

Other type of test is Random blood glucose level—In this test diabetes is suspected if the level of glucose is in the higher range or more than 200 mg/dL along with classic symptoms of increased thirst, urination and fatigue. This type of test is confirmed with the fasting blood glucose test.

The hemoglobin A1c level of patients with diabetes must be checked after every 3-6 months. The HbA1c shows the average blood sugar during the previous 2-3 months. It is a helpful way in order to determine that whether the treatment is working well or not.
