I am a medical student in one of the best medical colleges in town. It is just the start of my first semester and I have been given an assignment which is related to collecting information about Asthma. For this reason I would like to know about recent asthma statistics available at present.

One good way to understand the severity of a disease is to find the number of people getting affected by it. Asthma is considered to be a common disease found in people even those who apparently seem quite healthy. The causes of Asthma are not completely known and this is the reason why it varies in severity and frequency from one person to another. According to the recent statistics, more than 300 million people all over the world suffer from Asthma and there are about 250,000 deaths occurring annually because of this disease.
