"The dominant sign of an ulcer is a flaming or gnawing feeling in the stomach that lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours. This painful situation is often understood as heartburn, indigestion or hunger. This pain generally happens in the top abdomen, but occasionally it may happen underneath the breastbone. In some persons the pain happens right after eating. In other persons, the pain may not happen until hours after eating. The pain often awakens the individual at night. Weeks of pain may be pursued by weeks of not having pain. Pain can be reassured by consuming milk, eating, relaxing, or taking antacids.

Carving and weight reduction are other signs. Persons with duodenal ulcers may feel weight put-on because the individuals consume more to alleviate irritation. Frequent vomiting, blood in the stool and anemia are more signs of ulcer."
