    It pretty much means that there's nothing wrong with getting your comeuppance for your actions. It's like saying 'what goes around, comes around.' Basically if you treat people like s**t, you shouldn't be surprised when something S****y happens to you.

     If you are talking about "the ballad of Mona Lisa", I think it reffers to what he says in the beggining "And takes a moment to assess the sin she's paid for" (or al least, that's what I understand, please, I don't speak English regularly _I'm from Argentina). So, she's done something bad, therefore, shehas to pay for it.


    Then, he sings the part you're saying, being kind of sarcastic, meaning that she deserved some sort of pay-back... she s***w up, paid, and tasting what she's done.
