It was back in the early 1990s when for the first time ever in my life I heard about a disease called HIV AIDS. At that time I only knew that it is a fatal disease like cancer and nothing more. However, I was quite amazed to know that this deadly disease is increasing in terms of the victims acquiring this disease. Besides I was surprised to know that as compare to the other parts of the world, in Africa there are people suffering from HIV AIDS more than any other part or continent in the world. For this shocking reason, I would like to know if there is anything remarkable about AIDS and HIV in Africa.

It was back in year 1982 when for the first time an HIV/AIDS case was reported. According to the present stats, out of the 33.3 million people suffering from HIV/AIDS globally, 22.5 million are Africans. In South Africa around 29.4% of people are known to be victims of this deadly disease which is the highest number of any country on planet earth. Apart from this, out of 1.8 million people succumbed to HIV/AIDS in 2009, 1.3 million were Africans.
