The Monsanto Protection Act, otherwise known as HR 933, Section 735 had to be signed as part of the overall HR (Bill). What it is is a widely seen dangerous piece of legislation that allows companies that produce genetically modified crop seeds and bio-engineered foods to operate without the potential for federal courts to halt the production and sale of such foods. The main company at the heart of this issue is the Monsanto Company. Although the act has a 6 month shelf life, it sets a precedent that allows powerful corporations to influence legislation with lobbying and donations.
