What is the best rock group of the last 25 years?

One could argue that Radiohead has been one of, if not, the most influential bands of the past 25 years. They have made some of the greatest albums ever made such as The Bends (1995); OK Computer (1997); Kid A (2000); and Amnesiac (2001). They not only create rock music, but also used segments of hip-hop, computer sounds, techno, and other styles of music which has allowed them to reinvent themselves multiple times.

I would have to say U2. For one they have actually been around longer than the past 25 years and continue to make great music. Not only that they have been able to redefine their music and still bring a message. With Joshua Tree they showed a darker side of their music, with Achtung Baby they fused pop into their style, and brought a fresh modern take with How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb. This is one of the main reasons why great bands such as Oasis have not been able to survive for as long as they failed to expand on their style. U2 also sends a very political message which I think many people can relate to. They also don’t have a weak link amongst the 4 members, with each of them bringing something different to the table. They have sold over 150 million records worldwide, have 22 Grammy Awards, a record for a rock band, have the highest attended and highest grossing concert tour ever with their 360 degree tour, and rank as the 22nd greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stones magazine. 5 of their 12 albums are also ranked in the Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums of All time.
