The most poisonous snake in the world is not necessarily the deadliest. That is because the Belcher'ssea snake, a species that has a venomous bite that can kill 1,000 adult humans rarely features venom in its bites. They are also docile and benefit from being able to swim away.

The snake with the highest rates of fatalities per recorded bites is the Malayan or blue krait. This Indonesian native kills 50% of the people it bites even with antivenin treatment. It can be docile but will definitely bite to finish if provoked.
