I have heard both used, but what do they mean, and what is the difference?

    Comparing GPRS and GSM is like comparing Apple and Oranges.

    GSM = Global System for Mobile communication, Its a technological approach also based on dividing wireless calls into time slots.

    GPRS = General Packet Radio Service, A GSM data transmission technique that does not set up a continuous channel from a portable terminal for the transmission and reception of data.
