I am a student of business administration in one of the best universities of Pakistan. I am working on a Human Resource project in which I have to describe a number of job descriptions. For this reason, I would like someone to tell me briefly about the job description of a custodian.

Generally speaking, a custodian or Janitor is a semi-skilled employee who cleans, and maintains the health and safety standards of a certain residential or commercial building. A custodian normally works alone and may also be required to make minor repairs and replacements to the facility like replacing light bulbs and refilling toilet paper, paper towel, sanitary napkin and soap dispensers. Some of the major tasks include cleaning and dusting of areas like suites, offices, classrooms, kitchens, living spaces, dormitory rooms, laboratories, lobbies, museums, locker rooms, stairways, corridors and elevators. Besides, some other duties include setting up rooms for meetings, classes or events and locking and securing rooms and buildings from entry, and removing snow and salts ice on the exterior grounds of his facility during the winter.
