The Great Wall of China is an arrangement of stone and earthen installation in northern China, built initially to guard the northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by different nomadic groups. Many walls have been built since the 5th century BC that are referred to conjointly as the Great Wall, which has been reconstruct and maintained from the 5th century BC through the 16th century. One of the most renowned walls built between 220–206 BC by the earlier Emperor of China, Qin s**+ Huang. Little of that wall remains; the main part of the existing wall was built during the Ming Dynasty.
The Great Wall elongated from Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Nur in the west, along an arc that roughly attached the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. The most detailed archaeological survey, using advanced technologies, has determined that the complete Great Wall, with all of its components series, stretches for 8,851.8 km .This is made up of 6,259.6 km portions of actual wall, 359.7 km of furrow and 2,232.5 km of original defensive impediment such as hills and rivers.
Before the employment of bricks, the Great Wall was mainly constructed from rammed earth, stones, and wood. During the Ming Dynasty, although, bricks were mainly utilized in different areas of the wall, as were materials such as tiles, lime, and stone. The format and weight of the bricks made them convenient to work with than earth and stone, so building wall quickened. Additionally, bricks could hold more weight and proved better than rammed earth. Battlements line in the uppermost portion of the of the wall, with protective gaps a little over 30 cm tall, and about 23 cm wide.
