Advertising of medicines in Australia is strictly controlled to ensure it is socially responsible, truthful, appropriate and not misleading. In particular:
    • Advertisements must not state that the Australian Government endorses or recommends people use a particular medicine.
    • Medicines cannot be advertised in Australia for the treatment or prevention of serious diseases, conditions or disorders such as cancer, impotence, fertility problems or mental health problems as these conditions require proper diagnosis and treatment by a medical practitioner.
    • Medicines cannot be advertised in Australia for prolonging life or preventing ageing.
