    The Dark Ages describes the cultural and economic deterioration that followed the decline of the Roman Empire. The Dark Ages is another term for the Middle Ages. For the most part it is believed to have occurred from around the 6th century to the 13th century as this period was the period in between the fall of the Roman Empire and the Rise of the Italian Renaissance. Others believe the Dark Ages only covers the early period of the Middle Age, which was from the 5th century to the 10th century.
