I have a habit, perhaps good or bad that whenever I want to know about something I always try to get into the very depth. Before going any further with this so call research I always like to know about the history. I have recently bought a Yamaha heavy bike for myself so I want to know that when and how this name was introduced?

The history of Yamaha's goes back over a hundred years when in 1887 Torakusu Yamaha founded the company, which started producing reed organs. However, the first ever Yamaha mechanical product was the YA-1 Motorcycle (125cc, 2-stroke, single cylinder), which was produced and sold in Japan. By the 1960s, Yamaha International Corporation began selling motorcycles in the US. Later in 1968, DT-1 Enduro was introduced, which was world's first dual purpose motorcycle having on & off-road capability. In the same year, Yamaha's first Snowmobile, the SL350 with 2-stroke, twin cylinder engine was introduced. Then in 1970, Yamaha’s first 4-stroke motorcycle model, the XS-1 with 650cc vertical twin engine was introduced. Yamaha continued expansion into new markets by introducing Generators named as ET1200. It was in 1978 when Yamaha introduced four-cylinder, shaft drive XS1100 motorcycle which can be still be seen on roads. Presently, Yamaha is known to produce the best heavy bikes used in a number of racing events.
