London is a diverse city and each area has its own special something. If you talk to Londoner's they will all be very protective of their east, west, north or south background and many will not consider moving across the borders. So for the best place to live in London firstly you need to decide what London you want to live in...

    Instructions:

Firstly pick your area - For the hustle, bustle, and bright lights head towards central London. The West End is the place for shopping, theatre, fine dining and glamorous nightclubs. You will pay for the post code, and this is one of the most expensive places to live.

    2

Following the West End in the price war is West London. Notting Hill is known for its bohemian lifestyle but the prices are definitely not laid back.

    3

East London, or as the locals say the East End, is becoming one of the trendiest areas to live, Shoreditch, Hoxton and Bethnal Green have shaken off their rough image, attracting arty types and rock stars.

    4

North London is an extension to the east end vibe, the atmosphere is cool and creative although the prices tend to be quite a bit higher than East at the moment, but this will probably end as the London 2012 Olympics creeps nearer.

    5

South London is a mixed bag, there are a lot of places undergoing regeneration programmes, while others have already started to shine. Wandsworth, Borough and Clapham are becoming desired locations and prices are reflective.

    6

Once you have decided on your location you need to find estate agents. As London has gone through a property boom in the last ten years you cannot walk along a high street without bumping into an estate agent or five. To get a fair idea of prices and the value shop around.

    7

The internet is a great resource when you are looking for somewhere to live. Property websites such as Rightmove or Findaproperty host all the latest properties from a range of agents. There are lots of forums were you can find rooms to rent, or roommates so keep your eyes out.
