   Facebook was started by a Harvard sophomore, Mark Zuckerberg, in May 2004. It was initially started by a few friends to stay in touch with each other and to create a better understanding among college students. The name, Facebook, came from the publication that most of the colleges distributes to the students, a Yearbook. It was created so that they can develop a better understanding among each other and now these publications are more commonly known as Facebook.
   Due to its success and rapid growth, it was launched to other colleges, high schools, and then to the general public. However, it was restricted to the users who were 13 or older.
   
   It looks easy and simple; however, Mark Zuckerberg faced a lot of troubles and difficulties for making it what we have presently. Before launching Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg was an early and active member of houseSYSTEM, which was established by Greenspan. HouseSYSTEM was the service provided to the Harvard student foe college related activities. Mark Zuckerberg received an email from Greenspan about his project. After knowing “the Facebook” project, Greenspan wanted Mark Zuckerberg to integrate the both systems. However, Mark Zuckerberg decided to run the system alone. His ambition to make it a huge success took him to, Silicon Valley. There he was able to raise enough capital to fund his project. It was Mark Zuckerberg who had the vision to transfer this networking websites for college students in the United States, into a world wide service for both personal and business use.
   
   Facebook has been providing the additional or extended version of its services on a step by step approach, this keeps the users retained. Also, they feel that they are getting the desired value for the time they have spent with Facebook. Facebook is expected to obtain the status of the largest social networking website by the end of this year.
