The U.S. invaded Canada due to several reasons and there are some additional theories about the invasion as well. American started the war due to trade restrictions the British had set during their war with France, forcing American merchant sailors to serve in the British Royal Navy, and British support of Native Indians againts the expansion of the U.S. A theory of an additional reason as to the invasion is the U.S. wanting to invade and control Canada.

The war was between the United States against Great Britain, it's Canadian colonies, and Native Indian allies. It occured from June 1812, when the U.S. invaded what is now known as Ontario and lasted until February 1815.
