I don’t think there is really much argument here that Lev Yashin is the greatest soccer goalie of all time. Nicknamed ‘the Black Spider’ he had 270 clean sheets in his career and is believed to have made 150 penalty shot saves, that’s right 150. He played his for Dynamo Moscow and while appearing for Russia in 78 games backstopped them to the 1956 Olympics and the 1960 European Championship. He is such a great keeper the award for best goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup is named after Yashin. He is also the only keeper to win European Footballer of the Year, which he won in 1963. He was also voted the greatest goalkeeper of the 20th century in a poll conducted by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, IFFHS.
