My brother is a die hard Man U fan and he told me that an American owns the team. Who is this person and how much did he pay for the club?

     Manchester United is owned by Malcolm Glazer, an 84 year old wealthy Florida based business mogul. Glazer, who also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL purchased 57% of the then publically traded club. Shortly thereafter, Glazer purchased 75% of the outstanding shares, leading to the club being removed from public trading.


    Glazer now owns 100% of Man U through the Red Football parent company. All in all, Glazer paid 800 million pounds for the club, equivalent to $1.28 billion U.S.
