Cyprian Godebski (1835, Méry-sur-Cher - 1909, Paris), was a renown Polish sculptor, and Professor at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg from 1870. He was the grandson of a well known Polish poet and novelist Cyprian Godebski, author of "Legions' Poetry" genre, who served in Napoleonic Legions.

Professor Cyprian Godebski is remembered for winning the contest for Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Kraków, but loosing the commission to a newcomer, Teodor Rygier, whose more popular design was accepted by the city in 1889 for its implementation.Instead, Godebski became the author of an equally revered Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Warsaw, erected at Krakowskie Przedmiescie 10 years later, for which he was awarded 50,000 rubles by the newly formed Polish Society for Adam Mickiewicz Monument (Spoleczny Komitet Budowy Pomnika). The statue was destroyed by the n***s in 1942 during World War II and rebuilt in 1955. Only the head and a fragment of the torso were recovered in Hamburg for the post-war reconstruction.
