Why Webmaster add meta tag in site while Google does not give any value to it?

I have seen many new sites with meta tag and I wonder why google doesn’t give it any importance though webmaster ads it

    Google ignores meta keywords because some webmasters lie to get their pages ranked higher. Google wants to index pages using the keywords from visible text and titles.
